BLOG TIPS

If this is your first visit to The Palomar, read some of the Posts already published and explore the big band broadcasts you can hear on our blog. There are enough broadcasts, live concerts, and soundtracks to entertain you weeks on end.

You don't have to become a member of The Palomar to enjoy it. Stop by whenever. Read the Posts. Comment on them. Listen to the broadcasts. Tell your friends about us!

I only encourage visitors to join our blog if they will agree to post at least one entry each month about their love of big bands music. That should be pretty easy for most big band fans. To do so, click Register, which will take you to our Registration Page. Fill out and submit the form on that page. Within 24 hours (and usually much less), you will receive an invitation from Blogger.com to join The Palomar. You must accept that invitation.

Some members have written me to say they don't understand what Blogger.com is all about, and they have become even more confused when I suggest they join our Swingera Yahoo! Group to receive updates about The Palomar. Let me try to clarify this:

1. The Palomar is our big band broadcast blog. It depends on its members to keep it fresh. Members do that by publishing Posts, or Entries, preferably at least one entry per month, by Registering for The Palomar and joining Blogger.com.

 2. Blogger.com hosts The Palomar. We are only one of millions of blogs hosted by Blogger.com around the world. One of millions.

3. Our Swingera Yahoo! Group is an online service that manages the mailing list for The Palomar. It makes it easy for me to update you about The Palomar and our other web sites and blogs. If you wish to subscribe to our Swingera Yahoo! Group, simply click on this link:

Join our Swingera Yahoo! Group

Blogger.com is as easy to use as Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, or Gmail. All you have to do is enter a title and then a message containing your memories, comments, or questions about the big bands, the Swing Era. When you finish their message, simply click "Publish Post." It is that easy!

But not for everyone.

Some visitors who have successfully responded to their Blogger invitation don't know how to Sign In or Log In. Here's how:

1. Sign In - Click the Sign In link in the upper-right corner of this page. Enter your User Name and Password. Post an entry.

2. Log In - Look at the sidebar (it's on the left) and the heading that says "Push Our Buttons." Click the blue button that reads "Log In."

Click this button to Log In right now. Go ahead! Try it!

Enter your User Name and Password. Post an entry.

Members have to remember their User Name and Password for Blogger.com, and that is often a problem. Why? Because they fail to write them down. Some have asked me to send them their Blogger User Name and Password. Sorry, but I don't have access to them. Only Blogger does. Contact Blogger.com if you lose yours.

For years, I have been using an online User Name and Password manager called RoboForm, which makes it very, very easy for me to keep track of my own User Name/Password information. Whenever I go to a site, such as Blogger.com, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Bravenet, My Space, Facebook, or The New York Times, RoboForm automatically enters my User Name and Password for each site. Very cool!

Here's a suggestion: Click the Email Me link below, delete my email address and enter your own email address, and email this entry to your self. Print it out. Write your User Name and Password on it. Keep it by your computer. Don't lose it! And, don't ask me for it. I don't have access to your Blogger Username and Password.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cordially,

George Spink
